Sports Massage - Not just for sports people

A sports massage is recommended if you already have a diagnosis for an injury or if you would like a deep, focused massage to to relieve muscle tension/pain. If you would like a more thorough assessment and diagnosis to find the underlying cause of your pain, a full hour osteopathic consultation is recommended.

The term sports massage is widely used and generally refers to treating people who are in training or play a sport regularly. This means they are pushing their body that little bit more and are perhaps more prone to injury, so a regular sports massage can be extremely beneficial in targeting tight muscles and preventing and treating injury. However, a work related posture can often be just as problematic and many people with deskbound or manual jobs benefit hugely from soft tissue massage.

The massage can be as relaxing or as deep as you wish. Deeper techniques can be very effective, however a gentle approach can often be just as beneficial.
Sports massage can help to:
- Prevent injury
- Relieve aches and pains
- Improve flexibility
- Aid recovery
- Treat minor injuries
- Enhance sports performance
