Karen Lemon Osteopath

About Karen Lemon

I trained for 5 years at the British School of Osteopathy in London, graduating with a Masters degree (M.Ost) and a prize for my research dissertation which explored the working relationship between osteopaths and physiotherapists. I also hold qualifications in Sports Massage and Medical Acupuncture.

I have worked within the NHS and in private osteopathy clinics and have experience in treating a wide range of conditions from low back pain, to neck and shoulder issues, sports injuries, headaches and postural issues relating to desk/manual work and pregnancy. I use up to date evidence to inform my practice - this means that I will combine the latest research with the needs of the individual patient and my own experience. Every patient is individual and there is no one approach that fits all. I am particularly interested in pain science, and educating patients about why they are in pain, helping them to understand their body and self manage their issues forms an important part of the session.

My own life experiences have had a great influence on my work. I started my working career in an office so am only too aware of the effects of long hours at a desk. I am a keen runner which helps me to understand sporting injuries first hand. Having experienced pregnancy and early motherhood, I have an appreciation for the discomforts of pregnancy and the challenges of the postnatal period.

I use a broad range of  osteopathic techniques, tailoring these to suit the individual patient, including joint articulation and mobilisation, soft tissue massage and medical acupuncture. I have also undertaken Pilates training and this usually forms the basis of my rehab exercise prescription. I work together with each patient to restore function and prevent injury re-occurrence.
